For accountants and bookkeepers

When a client closes a company, get a work order, not a scramble.

The hard part is rarely the filing. It is getting the owner to do things in the right order, and to stop before they distribute. CloseMyBusiness.ca works through the options with your client and prepares a work order for you. You keep the client and bill for your work.

Get the free packet

A client-ready closing guide, and a one-page work order template.

Information for professional review. Not legal, tax or accounting advice.

What you get

Three free things, no strings.

All three are offered to every accountant and bookkeeper. None depends on you referring anyone.

The wind-up work order

One page per client, prepared from the owner's answers with their permission. It lists what you are asked to request, compute and file, and the deadlines.

A client-ready closing packet

A checklist and plain-language guide you can hand to a client who says they want to close. It says CloseMyBusiness.ca is not a firm of accountants or lawyers, and that it pays and receives no referral fees.

A fast answer line

A named contact for your questions about a client's closing, answered within 2 business days.

What a work order looks like

Everything the client's file needs, in the order it matters.

A sample, so you can judge it before you ask a client to use it.

Who does what

You stay the accountant. We do the owner-facing work.

CloseMyBusiness.ca works with the owner: it sets out the options, puts the steps in order, and prepares documents for professional review. You do the CRA work and the tax computations you are licensed to do, and you bill your client for them.

You

Request the CRA clearance certificate, file the final returns, compute tax on any distribution, and advise on tax.

CloseMyBusiness.ca

Assesses the situation, sets out options, prepares the work order and drafts for review, coaches the owner, and coordinates. We do not file with the CRA.

The owner's lawyer

Handles claims, employee disputes and the dissolution documents where a lawyer is needed. A licensed insolvency trustee steps in if the company cannot pay its debts.

Our one rule

No money changes hands. Ever.

CloseMyBusiness.ca pays no commission, fee, rebate, gift or discount for referrals, and accepts none from accountants. We do not rank or reward accountants by referrals, and where an owner needs an accountant, we will show more than one name and let the owner choose. If you want to tell a client where you stand, you may say: "CloseMyBusiness.ca pays me nothing and I receive no benefit for introducing it."

Questions accountants ask

Straight answers.

Are you going to take my client?

No. CloseMyBusiness.ca does not prepare tax filings or act for the CRA. The accountant on file stays the accountant and bills for the work.

Am I liable if my client relies on your plan?

The work order asks you to do your own work as you would for any client. Our materials are information for professional review, not advice.

Do you pay referral fees?

No, and we accept none. That is deliberate.

I don't trust AI with client financials.

The optional AI agent is switched off unless the owner turns it on. It does not file or send anything, and it sends complex questions to a person. The packet and work order need no AI at all.

What if the client can't pay their debts?

The Options Check refers them to a licensed insolvency trustee. CloseMyBusiness.ca does not act as a trustee.

What if I don't have time?

The work order is built to save time, and you decide how much to take on.

Will I get a sales call?

No. You will get the resource, and occasional related material you can unsubscribe from at any time.

Your client says they want to close. Be ready.
